DeLishia Davis is a multifaceted force for change, blending her academic achievements with a profound commitment to community service. Graduating from New York University with a degree in Education and graduate certificate in English Literature, she embarked on a journey that seamlessly intertwined her passion for education with her unwavering dedication to social justice.
For 27 years, DeLishia has served as a Methodist Pastor, guiding congregations with empathy and wisdom. As the founder of the New Beginnings Foundation, she has spearheaded initiatives to uplift marginalized communities and foster hope where it’s needed most. DeLishia has lived in the United States and abroad, aiding those in need and building relationships to empower others.
In addition to her pastoral duties, DeLishia serves as the Chaplain of the National Council of Negro Women in Northern Virginia, providing spiritual guidance and support to empower women of color. Her leadership extends to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, where she holds the esteemed position of Religious Affairs Chairperson of the Arlington branch, advocating for equality and justice on local and national scales.
As a board member for People for the American Way, DeLishia channels her passion for democracy and civil liberties into tangible action, working to protect and expand the rights of all citizens.
Beyond her advocacy work, DeLishia is also a dedicated English Literature teacher, inspiring students with her love for literature and guiding them toward critical thinking and self-discovery.
As a certified professional life coach, DeLishia empowers individuals to overcome obstacles and unlock their full potential. Her coaching philosophy is rooted in empathy, resilience, and a deep belief in the inherent worth of every person.
DeLishia A. Davis has been honored with many distinguished awards to include the Sojourners Award for international missions, Henry L. Holmes Meritorious Award, Pastor of the Year, Rosa ParksCommunity Service Award, and the NAACP President’s Award.
Pastor Davis has served congregations in Ohio, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia. She is currently the pastor of Calloway United Methodist Church in Arlington, Virginia and leads afresh expressions ministry in the area.
While her professional accomplishments are vast and impactful, DeLishia’s most cherished roles are those of mother to Maya Alexis Davis and Mycah Alexandrea Davis. Born in Washington, DC, she embodies and instills the values of compassion, justice, and service.
